Course Description:
This introductory 6-hour course is designed for pediatric physiotherapists and pediatric occupational therapists who want to expand their skills in addressing feeding and mobility challenges in infants. Taught by Laura Doyle, a Pediatric Physiotherapist and IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant), the course explores the interplay between oral and musculoskeletal systems in infant feeding and mobility. Participants will learn to identify tethered oral tissues (TOTs), assess muscular tension, and apply gentle bodywork techniques to support optimal feeding mechanics and mobility.

Key topics include:

  • Anatomy and physiology of infant feeding systems
  • Identification and management of tethered oral tissues and muscular tension
  • Bodywork strategies for pre- and post-frenectomy care
  • Parent education for at-home support
  • Multidisciplinary collaboration for holistic care

By the end of this course, therapists will gain foundational knowledge and hands-on skills to create individualized treatment plans and collaborate effectively with other professionals to enhance outcomes for infants and families.
