Date: Saturday, November 8th, 2025
Time: 10am - 5pm
Location: Blueberry Therapy, 14 Cross St. Dundas ON, L9H 2R4

Course Description:

This advanced 7-hour course is exclusively designed for healthcare professionals who have completed Level 1 Foundations of Infant Bodywork and are ready to master complex structural assessment and collaborative case management during the critical 3-9 month transitional period. Taught by Laura Doyle, who brings unique dual expertise as both a Pediatric Physiotherapist and IBCLC, this intensive training explores the sophisticated interplay between emerging gross motor patterns, advancing oral motor structure, and scope-appropriate interventions during infants' most dynamic developmental phase.

As infants transition from the reflexive newborn period into purposeful movement, healthcare professionals encounter increasingly complex structural presentations that require advanced assessment skills and sophisticated collaborative care strategies. This course builds on Level 1's scope of practice foundation, providing advanced clinical reasoning frameworks for working within professional boundaries while coordinating comprehensive care teams.

What Your Level 1 Colleagues Are Saying:

"Absolutely phenomenal course. I truly found the session engaging, and came out of it with so much more knowledge and wonderful resources, than anticipated. Laura is an amazing course instructor."
- Laura Hilton

"I could learn from Laura for days on end! She was so engaging which no doubt originates from her passion on this subject. It was nothing short of amazing!!!"
- Deidra McDermid

"Observing the assessment and treatment of the babies was incredibly valuable. Seeing the application of what was being taught really helped me absorb and understand the information. I feel seeing it in person, as opposed to on video, was important for my learning."
- Kendra Penney

Advanced Learning Areas:

Complex Structural Assessment (3-9 Months)

  • Multi-system structural evaluation for persistent oral restrictions
  • Advanced tongue and oral cavity mobility assessment techniques
  • Integration of gross motor structural findings with oral motor structure
  • Sophisticated clinical reasoning for scope-appropriate treatment planning
  • Recognition of complex presentations requiring interprofessional coordination

Advanced Gross Motor Integration & Pre-Crawling Structural Support

  • Milestone progression analysis: structural foundations vs. functional development
  • Impact of persistent oral restrictions on emerging gross motor patterns
  • Advanced manual techniques supporting transitional movement structure
  • Assessment of postural control as it relates to oral-motor positioning
  • Scope-appropriate interventions for complex structural presentations

Sophisticated Oral Motor Structural Development

  • Advanced structural mobility strategies for older infants
  • Progression of oral structure development and intervention timing
  • Collaborative protocols for structure vs. function delineation
  • Professional boundary navigation during solid food introduction phase
  • Long-term structural development planning within scope

Advanced Professional Collaboration & Scope Management

  • Complex case coordination while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Advanced documentation strategies for interprofessional cases
  • Communication protocols for scope-appropriate shared care
  • Managing parent expectations across multiple providers
  • Red flag recognition and immediate referral protocols for advanced presentations

Laura's Advanced Dual Perspective:

Laura Doyle's unique combination of Pediatric Physiotherapy and IBCLC credentials becomes even more valuable at the advanced level, where the intersection of structural restrictions and functional development creates complex clinical scenarios. Her dual training provides critical insights into how different professionals can work collaboratively on complex cases while maintaining clear scope boundaries.

This advanced perspective helps participants understand not just sophisticated assessment techniques, but also how to navigate the increasingly complex interprofessional landscape that emerges with older infants presenting persistent or evolving structural challenges.

What You'll Experience:

Advanced Live Demonstrations with Scope Commentary - Watch Laura assess complex structural presentations in 3-9 month infants while modeling collaborative decision-making
Hands-On Advanced Skill Development - Practice sophisticated assessment and treatment techniques within your professional scope
Complex Case Management Training - Learn to coordinate care while maintaining professional boundaries
Advanced Interprofessional Communication - Develop sophisticated language for complex collaborative situations
Scope Navigation for Complex Cases - Master professional boundary management in challenging presentations
Comprehensive Advanced Resources - Materials supporting complex scope-appropriate practice

Target Audience & Advanced Scope Considerations:

This advanced course serves healthcare professionals ready for complex structural assessment, with content specifically addressing scope challenges at the advanced level:

  • Pediatric Physiotherapists - Advanced musculoskeletal assessment, complex ROM presentations, sophisticated manual techniques
  • Chiropractors - Complex structural assessment and advanced manual therapy applications in developing infants
  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) - Integration of persistent structural findings with evolving functional concerns
  • Other qualified healthcare professionals - Advanced scope-appropriate structural assessment for complex presentations

Advanced Scope Emphasis: This course specifically addresses the scope challenges that emerge with complex cases, teaching participants how to maintain professional boundaries while contributing meaningfully to comprehensive care teams.

Prerequisites & Professional Requirements:

Completion of Infant Bodywork Level 1: Foundations is mandatory. This advanced course assumes mastery of basic scope-appropriate assessment and treatment techniques, plus understanding of fundamental collaborative care principles established in Level 1.

Advanced Collaborative Care Framework:

This course elevates the collaborative care foundation from Level 1, teaching participants how to navigate the complex interprofessional relationships required for challenging cases. You'll learn advanced strategies for maintaining professional boundaries while ensuring comprehensive care coordination, especially critical when structural restrictions persist or evolve during the transitional developmental period.
